Saud, Pagudpud: Beautiful Beach Sunset and Wind Turbines

The first afternoon in Pagudpud was all about the warmth of the sun, sand, and waves. Why should it end there?

After the visit in Patapat Viaduct and soaking under the sun around the Timmantang Rock, it was time to go back to the accommodation in Saud to watch the sun set (and for me to take photos until twilight) from the nearby beach.

We reached the beach at a little past 6:00 pm and had enough time to observe around. The sun was already low on the horizon giving warm hue to the surrounding. Golden hour it was.

The immediate area is occupied by local residents and probably the big structure beyond within the grove is a resort area.

This part of the coast have less beach resorts and most of the visitors seemed to be just living nearby, There were plenty of beached fishing boats, fishing nets, and also dogs. I just could imagine somewhere close by there'd be some boats in the madaling-araw coming from the laot (middle of the sea) with their catch from the previous night. And the neighborhood, who had been patiently waiting, got their banyeras ready to buy/auction. That is just my kind of beach!

The sunset was breathtaking, but we got some additional treat. Giant electric fans.

On the left side of the horizon, we were presented with an amazing view of the wind turbines that are actually in the town of Bangui. The wind turbines can be seen lined up along the coast which are some eight to 9 kilometers away from Saud beach. Most of them can be seen built along the shoreline and some are in the mountains or hills. (I checked Google Earth and I would assume the ones in Burgos, Ilocos Norte were also visible from there.)

Bangui Bay Twilight

The wind turbines were still visible even after the sun had set. I wish I had taken more long exposure photos like these, but it was time to go and the mosquitoes were starting to bite.





Just a 2.5 seconds exposure to capture the wave's movement and produce the blur, but not misty yet.

Later that night, we went out again to look for a place to eat. Though at, I think, past 7 pm, most shops were already closed! We even reached the town proper but there was nowhere to buy fast food. There was an 'expensive-looking' restaurant near the hotel but we decided to look for more. We were lucky there was this eatery that opened and cooked for us!

I think I remember we were able to buy some beer but I don't think I drank with them!

Tomorrow, our second and last day in Pagudpud, we will be trekking towards Kabigan Falls!
